How to Pack for Changing Climates on a Multi-City Trip
Master the art of layering and versatile clothing to stay comfortable in both tropical beaches and chilly mountains on the same trip.

The Challenge of Multi-Climate Travel
Packing for a trip that includes both hot and cold weather can be daunting. The key is versatile clothing that can be layered.
Start with a Base Layer
Pack lightweight, moisture-wicking base layers that can keep you warm in the cold and cool in the heat. Merino wool is an excellent choice.
Layering is Everything
Instead of packing heavy sweaters, bring thin layers that you can add or remove as needed. A lightweight fleece or down jacket takes up less space than a bulky coat.
Versatile Footwear
Choose shoes that can handle different terrains and weather conditions. A comfortable pair of walking shoes and a pair of sandals should cover most situations.
